Kinja'd!!!

Second round of the marketing effort has been completed with another international media drive, this time in Chile.

Focus seems to be that despite it being based on the Navara and using Navara engines...it’s not a Nissan. Mostly because it is apparently quieter and rides better...and, one could argue, looks better.

Perhaps its best angle?

Wait - Mercedes is now slapping the 3-pointed star on something they didn’t build? How did I miss this?

Of the Navara sister I prefer the looks of the Alaskan (Best name too, with Frontier in second place). Although I do like the rear of the X.

The trade off for allowing Nissan to rebadge GLAs

Kinja'd!!!

Nissan gets a premium small CUV and Mercedes gets a Truck.

And buying the Nissan-branded vehicle probably saves money in both cases.

They already did it with the Citan/Renault Kangoo, Renault-Nissan and Damlier have an alliance now, so expect more models shared from the 3.

The D23 Navara is actually really nice. Full length, fully boxed frame and a pretty nice interior. Looking forward to the them coming to the US, though hopeful they will offer better engines over here. I would be willing to bet that it would do well and even take the top spot in the (tiny) small truck segment.

With the V6 it will be (I think) the most powerful truck in the mid size segment with 258 hp and 405 lb ft of torque. That would make it perfect for the US market but it will not be sold there and Americans hate diesels more than ever before.

Uuuug that kicked up window line makes me angry. Worst trend in modern trucks. The window line on a truck is supposed to flow nicely into the top of the bed.

That is an insult to the Ridgeline sir Dr.

As wack as the QX30 is, Im not expecting much from this. Its probably best that this didnt come to the US.

That has been a Navara feature/quirk for quite some time...

Correct. It will be the most powerful...for now.

Almost no petrol (gas) powered utes left in this segment in Oz despite the plethora of providers.

North Americans probably wouldn’t pay the asking price anyway.

The Colorado does it too. And the Ranger. And Chevy Silverado. And the Tacoma and the Tundra a bit.

Kinja'd!!!

And even the F-150 does it, although it’s so subtle it’s like they were ashamed of it.

Kinja'd!!!

I think the Nissan Titan is the only new truck that doesn’t have that kick up.

It’s amusing. The F series looks like nothing else in the Ford line up but the Chevy looks like every other generic US market GM brand SUV...but with a tray tacked on. Only just realised that...

It’s like your new Chevy Equinox comes with a permanently mounted shovel on its arse...
